Why Moyitos
In Panama, it's tradition to call people named Harmodio "Moyo," and my father, Harmodio Santamaria, was known in his town as "Don Moyo" or "Moyito." In the same way, I was named Harmodio after him and now my sons Christopher and Camilo both carry the name Harmodio as their middle name, continuing the family tradition. My parents owned a coffee farm, and coffee has always run through our veins. I was born and raised among coffee plants.
The Don Moyo Coffee Tradition
At the Santamaria farm, it was a tradition to drink coffee sweetened with panela instead of sugar. Don Moyo's tradition has now been crafted to share with our guests offering a blend of rich black coffee with panela, a brown cane sugar that adds natural sweetness. Served hot, it pairs perfectly with breakfast plates or desserts. This simple yet distinctive drink has become a popular choice for guests looking for a warm and balanced finish to their meal.
